Una investigaci\u00f3n liderada por el ge\u00f3logo, paleont\u00f3logo y cient\u00edfico del Instituto Dom Luiz (Universidad de Lisboa) y del Geoparque de Naturtejo (Portugal), Carlos Neto De Carvalho, y Fernando Mu\u00f1iz, tambi\u00e9n paleont\u00f3logo y profesor de Cristalograf\u00eda y Mineralog\u00eda de la Universidad de Sevilla, ha hallado, en diversos enclaves entre Gibraltar y el suroeste portugu\u00e9s, las huellas de estos supervivientes. En las publicaciones cient\u00edficas internacionales <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/10420940.2020.1744586\"><i>Ichnos<\/i><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0277379120304704?via%3Dihub\"><i>Quaternary Science Reviews<\/i><\/a><i>,<\/i> desvelan los rastros de este pasado fascinante, con ejemplares como el <i>Palaeoloxodon antiquus<\/i>, un elefante de hasta cuatro metros de altura, y jabal\u00edes que triplicaban el tama\u00f1o de los actuales.
