From April 26 to 28 comes the third edition of the prestigious Open Science Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean, CILAC. This is the largest scientific knowledge event in the region and an opportunity to debate, plan and monitor the role of science in the new normal.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Considered as the regional hub of science, technology and innovation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, CILAC 2021 adapts to the current context to launch an edition that will have a hybrid format, seeking to best combine the virtuality with the in-person meeting - everything that the pandemic allows us to do. In both conditions the result will strengthen networks and promote exchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maintaining its spirit of bringing together a wide variety of speakers from around the world and offering thematic sessions on inclusive science, the ethics of artificial intelligence, open science and the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy \u2013 contextualized to the pandemic generated by COVID -19 \u2013 the new edition of the Forum will present more than 70 thematic sessions, high-level tables with ministers and regional authorities, parallel events that include workshops, workshops and demonstrations, accompanied by a large virtual stage central to the entire meeting, led by the government of the Argentine Republic \u2013 host of this edition of CILAC. This scenario will work to make the Forum's central meetings and announcements visible.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe pandemic, which forced us to reschedule the biannual meeting, revealed the need and urgency for spaces for dialogue and cooperation such as the Open Forum to combine efforts and visions of sustainable development based on scientific knowledge at all levels of our societies. : international, governmental, the private sector, social organizations and the scientific community\u201d<\/em>says Guillermo Anll\u00f3, Coordinator of the CILAC Forum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During 2020, CILAC developed different activities and calls through its digital platforms, in order to give visibility to the important role of science in our lives, marked by a year in which the scientific system of the region and the world multiplied its efforts and made clear the need for each country to have trained scientists. More than 10 thousand people took part in virtual meetings on open science, scientific diplomacy, entrepreneurship, bioeconomy and scientific education, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new edition of the Forum, #CILAC2021, will take place from April 26 to 28, in completely virtual mode. Pre-registration is open at forumcilac.org\/cilac2021<\/a> for free.<\/b><\/p>\n

CILAC is an initiative created and led by UNESCO Montevideo, with the IDB, SEGIB, OEI, RICYT, AUGM and CUIB as regional partners. For its third edition, it has the support of the government of the Argentine Republic as organizer and host, through its Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, and the government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
