In a video call presentation of his latest research in this field, the Stanford University (USA) researcher now remembers that, when he was five years old, his father suffered a very serious traffic accident. \u201cHe kept telling jokes, and I laughed at his jokes, but I didn&#039;t understand him because his ability to speak was so damaged,\u201d she said. This led him to study how neurons encode movement and speech, and then look for a way to recover them in people with neurological damage.
