Protein that causes cold in teeth discovered

Eating cold foods can be a problem for those with dental sensitivity. This disorder, which generally occurs when the outermost layer of the teeth, can turn a frozen dessert into a real toothache. Now, a new study published in the journal Science Advances has revealed that the key to this pain is in the TRPC5 protein and in odontoblasts, cells responsible for the production of dentin. The first acts as a transmitting channel for the stimuli that reach the teeth, while the second has a sensory function not known until now.
