But this and other similar statements are based on a model created in 1967.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 2 --><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Species-area model<\/h2>\n<p>evolutionary biologists <strong>Robert H. MacArthur<\/strong> and <strong>E. O. Wilson<\/strong> developed the species-area model in 1967 and is based on the assumption that as more species compete for declining resources, fewer would survive.
