This September 16 the deadline to register for the Leadership course for young scientists ends

Inter Academy Partnership (IAP), The Young Affiliates of the World Academy of Sciences and Global Young Academy will be in charge of Scientific Leadership workshop which will take place in Panama City on October 20 and 21, within the framework of the Science Week and in the days prior to the Open Science Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean, CILAC 2018.

This activity is aimed at outstanding researchers, under 40 years of age, with interest in contributing to interdisciplinary collaboration to strengthen science for sustainable development. Emphasis is placed on the applicant's communication skills, as well as their enthusiasm and career path. One of its riches is having professionals with different interests and specialties, coming from different geographical and economic contexts.

The workshop will provide participants with tools to increase their impact in pursuing the objectives of the Agenda 2030, using science as an ally. In addition, the course will be useful for those who participate in the rest of the activities of CILAC.

Applicants will receive accommodation and meals during the workshop, but must cover travel to Panama City and ground transportation. On the CILAC Forum page the discounts and agreements for the participants.

The criteria to be selected are:

• Be less than 40 years old.

• Possess a doctorate.

• Have demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration to address societal challenges.

• Have excellent communication skills in the English language.

• Work on areas relevant to one or more of the CILAC conference themes.

How to apply (deadline September 16, 2018):

• A motivation statement of 500 words (maximum) about why you want to participate, how your research interests fit with any of the CILAC themes, and how you hope to apply the training received in your contexts.

• A two-page resume demonstrating eligibility, including academic excellence, work in one or more of the workshop topic areas, and commitment to science in the service of society.

• Letter of support from the referee.
