Moisés Wasserman confirmed his presence at the forum. Wasserman is a Colombian biochemist, and former rector of Colombia University. Since 2002 he has been the President of the Colombian Academy of Exact Physical and Natural Sciences.
He holds a PhD in biochemistry and a postdoc from the State University of New York. After his studies he returned to Colombia where he taught at the National University and researched for the National Institute of Health, a place that between 1995 and 1998 he began to direct and whose management was rated as one of the best the center had.
Between 2004 and 2006 he was Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the National University of Colombia, and then was elected Rector of the same until 2012. Among his achievements as rector are the increase in postgraduate programs, advances in well-being and modernization. institutional of the University.
With national and international projects, he published nearly 80 scientific articles and more than 25 scientific dissemination articles. His research focused on parasites that cause tropical diseases such as Plasmodium falciparum, which causes malaria, and Giardia lamblia, which causes intestinal problems and malnutrition.
In 1984, he received the Alejandro Ángel Escobar National Science Award and in 1996 he obtained the National Award for Scientific Merit in the category of Researcher of Excellence.
