Nowadays there is a great debate on the use of algorithms in various fields, such as internet security, surveillance systems, or customer segmentation. The issue often focuses on how algorithms should be used, neglecting a thorough analysis of the different realities that shape these models—and which, in turn, they influence. In this sense, a fundamental question that often remains unasked is: how are the different actors, including the mathematical community, involved in the ethical issues surrounding the use of algorithms?
