Within the framework of International Women's Day, the Open Science Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean joins in commemorating this important date celebrated around the world. Gender Equality is a central theme for the Forum, so CILAC 2018 – which will be held from October 22 to 24 in Panama City – will have a specific section focused entirely on the topic of Gender Equality in Science, to contribute to the construction of a regional agenda on gender and science.
Since its inception, International Women's Day has become a global celebration of women's initiatives from history and present, and an opportunity to look to the future of untapped potential and opportunities for future generations of women.
In 1945, the United Nations Charter It was established as the first international agreement to consolidate the principle of equality between women and men. With this conviction, the UN officially celebrated the first International Women's Day in 1975, almost 41 years ago. (UNESCO)
