Sleep occupies a third of our existence and directly affects health and well-being. “There are more than 90 diseases related to it and many others that get worse because we sleep poorly,” says Joaquín Durán Cantoll, head of the Research Service of the Bioaraba Health Research Institute, who has been working on this for more than 30 years. But perhaps we do not give it the importance it really has, associating sleep with weakness, explains Wendy Troxel, a researcher on behavior and social sciences at the RAND (Research And Development) think tank and professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh (United States).
