Parallel events for researchers at CILAC 2018

In addition to the thematic sessions that will deal with the different axes of the CILAC Forum, the parallel events They represent instances of another nature also linked to the discussion topics convened by CILAC. Most of them are convened by international organizations, and all are part of Science Week in Panama City.

Many of these events take place as workshops, aimed at an audience dedicated to scientific research and data collection, as well as decision makers. In several cases, they are complementary to some of the Forum sessions.

For example, the Columbus Association will provide a workshop on Open Data: research data plan processes and resources. It offers researchers and those responsible for research systems input to evaluate the scope of research data management in the Open Science model and establish the conditions that allow the development and consolidation of the initial strategies of the Region.

The International Government Scientific Advisory Network (INGSA), will give the workshop Scientific Advice, which has already toured several cities in Latin America. It is intended for researchers and officials related to the decision-making process in the field of public policies. This workshop will help them improve their ability to provide scientific advice in policy formulation at all levels of government.

The workshop organized by the Bioethics Committee of the University of Panama will also take place at CILAC, which deals with ethical evaluation of research protocols. In this event, participants are invited to reflect on the ethical challenges that science has, in perspective with the importance of knowledge to comply with the 2030 agenda.
