I know a mathematician autistic (it is a fairly common binomial) who, when someone is about to tell a joke, suggests that they pause before finishing it to give them the opportunity to deduce the ending. At first glance, the proposal seems nonsense (like many proposals from mathematicians and autistics). How can you try to “deduce” the conclusion of a joke? A joke is an anarchic and bizarre micro-story, it has nothing to do with a syllogism, not even with a riddle... Or does it?
