On November 10, World Science Day for Peace and Development is commemorated, in order to highlight the important role of science in society, and the need to involve the entire society in debates on emerging scientific issues. . It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.

Almost all of the current and future daily activities of our lives are affected, in one way or another, by science and technology. The reality that we have to navigate is increasingly mediated by the advancement of scientific knowledge, and it is important that we all be able to access the achievements of that advance.

Today, in the face of the pandemic that is ravaging the world, the key role played by the science and technology systems of Latin America and the Caribbean is highlighted, and the need to have local capabilities to be able to develop and implement appropriate measures.

Within the framework of the World Science Day for Peace and Development, the Open Science Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean, CILAC Forum, calls on everyone to be part of an open initiative to receive your response to this ask:

What learning did science leave you in 2020?

To do this, we invite you to share a short video testimony, to be included in the final edition to be presented on November 10, as a contribution to the peace and development of our region.

The instructions are simple:

In less than 1 minute, tell us what lessons science left in your personal life, that of your family or your community, this very particular year, marked by the pandemic that still plagues the entire world, and our region in particular.

To make it easier for you to make your contribution, we are using the VidHug platform, which will allow you to record and send your video from any device (computer or mobile).

Select one of the two options shown:

  • Record video (recommended to record a video from your computer or mobile)
  • Upload video (to upload a pre-recorded video). Accepted formats: .mp4, .mov, .mpeg, .webm, .3gpp, .3gpp2, .flv)

In order to meet the deadlines set for the editing process, we have defined the November 3 as the deadline to receive your video.
