930,000 years ago, the human lineage was on the verge of disappearing. Our ancestors had begun to expand across the planet, they walked upright and used stone tools simple. A few millennia before there were around 100,000, not many if you look at the present, but enough to keep going in a hostile world. However, something happened, and the population collapsed to 1,200 individuals. A 98% of the entire population, missing. Then, for 117,000 years, 1,170 centuries, that small population, which could fit in a nightclub, resisted the brink of extinction. Until, little by little, 800,000 years ago, the population recovered to around 30,000 individuals.
