El Foro CILAC celebra un nuevo coloquio junto a referentes de la región, enfocado en las neurotecnologías, la ética y los derechos humanos. Desde su lanzamiento, más de 32 mil personas han sido parte de los coloquios del ciclo #CienciaEnMovimiento de CILAC.
La neurociencia ha proporcionado avances significativos en el entendimiento del cerebro humano y los procesos cognitivos, lo que ha llevado a la creación de nuevas herramientas médicas para diagnosticar, prevenir y tratar enfermedades neurológicas. Sin embargo, estas neurotecnologías también plantean importantes dilemas éticos y jurídicos, ya que pueden afectar la privacidad mental, la libertad cognitiva y la integridad personal. Es crucial encontrar un equilibrio entre los beneficios de estos avances y la protección de los derechos humanos, para lo cual se necesitan reglas éticas claras.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, significant research is being conducted in the field of neurotechnologies, and public policy principles are being proposed to regulate their use. The report "Neurotechnologies and Human Rights in Latin America and the Caribbean", prepared by Dr. Roberto Andorno and published by UNESCO and CILAC, highlights these advances and proposes guidelines for regulation in the region.
This report will serve as the basis for the new CILAC virtual meeting, in which Roberto Andorno (Associate Professor of Bioethics and Biomedical Law, University of Zurich), Dafna Feinholz (Head of Section, Bioethics and Ethics of Science, UNESCO), and Carlos Amunátegui Perelló (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), will address the ethical challenges and governance proposals related to neurotechnologies, moderated by Eleonora Lamm (UNESCO Regional Specialist for Social and Human Sciences for Latin America and the Caribbean), who will also answer questions from the audience.
