Panama Canal Authority joins CILAC

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) is an entity of the Government of Panama that is exclusively responsible for the operation, administration, functioning, conservation, maintenance and modernization of the Panama Canal, so that it functions properly. safe, continuous, efficient and profitable. Representatives of the ACP will be participating as keynote speakers and panelists during the CILAC Forum:

The Eng. Ilya Espino de Marotta, will open the day on Wednesday the 24th as the main speaker of the plenary, speaking on the notion of resilient territories. Executive vice president of engineering and program management at ACP, she was responsible for leading the expansion program of the interoceanic highway, one of the most ambitious projects in contemporary engineering.

The Engineer and Executive Vice President of Environment, Water and Energy of the Panama Canal, Carlos Vargas, will participate in the high-level table on water management and sustainable development, on Wednesday the 24th. In this space, the water situation in the region will be discussed, with specific cases and showing the different opportunities and challenges faced by the different subregions, as well as as the achievements obtained through different strategies to achieve sustainable management of the resource.

Alexis Rodriguez, ACP environmental protection specialist, will also participate in the forum, also speaking on Wednesday at the table on climate change and adaptation mechanisms. Here, strategies will be discussed, at national, regional and global levels, to address the underlying causes of the impacts of climate change, involving citizens and governments to reduce the impact of this phenomenon. The objective of this high-level session is to reduce the knowledge gap regarding the access and use of information, working together with countries, which have similar realities and challenges, but with different degrees and strategies of progress.
