With more than 150 proposals, the application period for the III Open Science Forum in Latin America and the Caribbean to be held in 2021 closed.
The pandemic and the beginning of the implementation of global quarantine plans coincided at the end of March with the closing of the call to present proposals to the Third Open Science Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean (CILAC).
Despite this unprecedented scenario on a global scale, more than 150 proposals were received from countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and the rest of the world, exceeding those received in the first two editions of the Open Forum in 2016 and 2018. This fact gives testimony of the consolidation of CILAC as a regional platform to discuss the science, technology and innovation agenda in the face of the challenges of the 2030 Agenda.
CILAC today brings together and interacts with nearly 7,000 intersectoral and interdisciplinary actors through its networks. The support and promotion that UNESCO provides to this space, together with other regional partners, contribute to consolidating the right to science in Latin America and the Caribbean.
