They are alive!

Let's turn the clock back 100 million years. We will land in the Cenomanian, an era of the Upper Cretaceous. We will see there Acanthopholis horrida, a five-meter-long, spiked rumpled lizard whose first fossil was discovered in 1865, just six years after the publication of The origin of species, and which was in fact baptized by Thomas Huxley, the bulldog of Darwin. If we are naive enough to approach a river, we could be devoured by the gigantic crocodile Aegisuchus, but staying on dry land won't be a piece of cake either, with all those Araripesuchus, Argentinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus and other huge beasts full of teeth. America and the old world were already in the advanced process of divorce, although not yet as separated as today. Most likely, not a single member of the time machine crew survived, although some of their pieces could perhaps be salvaged.
