The history of humanity is the history of epidemics and also of their transmission. This is what it comes to tell us Rafael Chirbes in one of the entries of his Diaries (Anagram, 2021), and then direct the acidity of his criticism to the Europe of the Christian baroque, whose thought was conditioned by the Council of Trent (1545-1563) where the Catholic faith would remain fixed to this day.
